The Year was 1999!
The idea was simple. Get a video camera and film the end of the world or at least the Y2K part of it anyhow. It was my newlywed wife who pointed out that if the world ends with the end of the millennium, then who would be around to watch my little movie or film or whatever it is? I would try and explain that I wanted to film a documentary ski film that would record possibly the last ski season ever (and yes my wife did think she married a lunatic). The plan was to film Aspen mountain life on my days off, the problem being, that I didn't have very many of them. Newly married with a new six day a week job, no film experience what so ever, less than no money, no ski pass and a new dog named Henry I decided to forge ahead with the project. The ski season in Aspen is twenty weeks long and since I had only Saturday's off, naturally, the title of my project became, "Twenty Saturdays!"
